Waterman IT Solutions Case Study
When you scale your business up from being a solopreneur working off the kitchen table, to a home office and then premises elsewhere, there is going to come a time when you have to take on staff. That may well be a good time to start outsourcing as managing people and dealing with HR issues may take you too far outside your comfort zone. As Tom Waterman found and he turned to Amanda for guidance.
My team had started to grow; I already had a few employees and was looking to take on more and felt that I needed support from someone who knew the intricacies of HR management and could help me when issues arose. Stuart Stanley of Stanley Electrical Services introduced Amanda to me when I visited a BNI meeting many years ago.
Bringing Amanda into the company as an outsourced HR Manager was very easy. She explained everything to me in simple clear language that was easy to understand, I immediately felt more confident handling my employees. It has been absolutely fantastic; I couldn’t run my business effectively without her.
We have grown to a team of 9 including myself. As is inevitable issues have arisen over the years, Amanda is always there to help, always listens to me and my worries. Her solutions to the problems give me the confidence to move forward and handle the situations correctly.
One example of this is when I am having to have difficult conversations with employees. I find these kind of meetings a struggle, having Amanda with me helps me have the confidence to carry them out effectively and fairly. Her guidance has been invaluable in these situations.
In the last few years, Amanda has added training to what she can provide. Tracey does our health and safety training. The team actually look forward to these which sounds crazy, but Tracey can make the most boring of topics fun. As a result, everyone remains engaged and actually take in and retain what they are being taught.
It was Stuart’s recommendation that led you to work with Amanda, would or have you recommended Amanda to anyone? Yes, I would and yes, I have. I always tell people I meet they need to speak to Amanda if they are taking on even just one employee, starting at the beginning is definitely the best way.
